-chapter 1 1
I'm suffocating, my lungs burning from the lack of oxygen. My head is spinning, and my body feels like it's been put through a wringer. I try to remember what happened, but my memories are hazy, fragmented. I recall the sound of gunfire, the feeling of being dragged through dark corridors, and the sensation of weightlessness as I plummeted towards the ground. But it's all so vague, so distant. I force my eyes open, and a wave of pain washes over me. I'm met with an unfamiliar ceiling, a dull grey color that seems to closing in on me. I try to sit up, but a sharp pain shoots through my head, making me wince. A hand presses against my shoulder, holding me down. "Easy," a low, husky voice whispers. "You've been through a lot." I turn my head, trying to see who's speaking to me. My rescuer. The one with the piercing blue eyes. The one who saved my life. I try to remember their face, but it's still a blur. I see a glimpse of chiseled features, a strong jawline, and those eyes. Oh, those eyes. They seem to bore into my soul, making my heart skip a beat. "Who are you?" I croak, my voice barely above a whisper. The figure doesn't respond. Instead, they help me sit up, slowly, carefully. I'm met with a wave of dizziness, but they hold me steady, their grip on my arm firm. I look around, taking in my surroundings. I'm in a small, cramped room, with stone walls and a single, narrow window. The door is made of solid steel, with a small slot at the bottom. It's a prison cell. Or a safe house. I'm not sure which. My rescuer hands me a glass of water, and I drink it greedily, feeling the cool liquid soothe my parched throat. As I drink, I notice something. A small, intricate tattoo on my rescuer's wrist. A tattoo that looks eerily familiar. Suddenly, memories come flooding back. Memories of my past, of my family, of my sister. And of him. My rescuer. The one who's been hiding in the shadows, watching me, waiting for me. I feel a shiver run down my spine as I realize the truth. He's not just my rescuer. He's my enemy. And I'm trapped, alone and defenseless, with the one person who can destroy me. I look up, meeting his eyes, and see a glimmer of something there. Something that looks almost like... regret. "You're not who I thought you were," I whisper, my voice trembling. He doesn't respond. Instead, he stands up, his movements fluid, cat-like. And that's when I see it. A small, hidden door, behind him. A door that slides open, revealing a dark, narrow passageway. He turns to me, his eyes glinting in the dim light. "We need to talk," he says, his voice low, urgent. "But first, we need to get out of here. Now." I nod, my heart racing with anticipation. And as I stand up, following him into the unknown, I realize that I'm walking into a nightmare. A nightmare from which I may never awaken. Suddenly, I hear the sound of footsteps, echoing through the passageway. Heavy, deliberate footsteps. And I know that we're not alone. Not by a long shot. My rescuer's eyes lock onto mine, and I see a flicker of fear there. Fear for me. Fear for us. And then, just as we're about to move, the lights go out, plunging us into darkness. I'm trapped, alone, and at the mercy of my enemy. And as I hear the sound of footsteps getting closer, closer, I realize that I'm about to face my worst nightmare. The darkness closes in around me, and I scream...
