-chapter 1 1
I slowly open my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I'm met with the familiar sight of cold, grey walls and a musty smell that makes my stomach turn. I'm back in Raven's Peak, and I have no idea how I got here. The last thing I remember is being trapped with the one person who can destroy me. My mind is foggy, but as my vision clears, I see my sister standing over me. Her eyes are black as coal, and her skin is deathly pale. She looks... different. Wrong. I try to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washes over me, forcing me back down. My sister's grip on my arm tightens, her fingers digging deep into my skin. "Don't try to move," she whispers, her voice low and menacing. I feel a shiver run down my spine as I look into her eyes. What's happened to her? She's not my sister anymore. She's something else. Something evil. I try to speak, but my voice is barely a whisper. My throat is dry, and my head is pounding. My sister's grip on my arm loosens, and she hands me a glass of water. I drink it greedily, feeling the cool liquid soothe my parched throat. As I look up at her, I see a flicker of recognition in her eyes. For a moment, I think I see my sister, the girl I grew up with. But it's quickly replaced by a cold, calculating gaze. "You're going to have to come with me," she says, her voice dripping with malice. I try to struggle, but my body feels heavy, unresponsive. My sister's grip on my arm tightens, and she pulls me to my feet. I stumble, my legs trembling beneath me. As I look around, I see that we're in some sort of dark, damp corridor. The walls are lined with old stone, and the air is thick with the smell of decay. I have no idea where we are or where we're going. But I do know one thing: I have to escape. I have to get out of Raven's Peak before it's too late. As I take a deep breath, preparing to make my move, I hear the sound of footsteps echoing through the corridors. They're getting closer. My sister's grip on my arm tightens, and she pulls me forward. "We have to go," she whispers, her voice urgent. I stumble after her, my heart racing with fear. We're running out of time. And as we turn a corner, I see a figure standing in the shadows. A figure I never thought I'd see again. The woman with the piercing green eyes. She's watching us, her eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity. My sister's grip on my arm tightens, and she pulls me closer. "Don't trust her," she whispers, her voice barely audible. But it's too late. The woman steps forward, her eyes locked on mine. And as she speaks, her voice sends shivers down my spine. "Welcome to the beginning of the end," she says, her eyes glinting with malice. And as everything goes black, I feel myself falling, plummeting into a darkness from which I may never escape. But just as all hope seems lost, I hear a voice, a voice that makes my heart skip a beat. "Not so fast," it says. And as I look up, I see a figure standing over me, a figure with a gun pointed directly at my head. "You're not going anywhere," the figure says, a sly smile spreading across its face. And as I look into its eyes, I realize I'm staring into the face of my worst nightmare. The trigger is pulled, and everything goes black. But just as the bullet is about to hit me, a hand reaches out, grabbing my arm and pulling me to safety. I feel myself being dragged away, the sound of gunfire echoing through the corridors. And as I look up, I see the face of my rescuer. A face I never thought I'd see again. The face of the one person who can save me. But as I look into their eyes, I see something that makes my blood run cold. A hint of betrayal, a glimmer of deceit. And I realize, I may have just jumped from the frying pan into the fire.
