-chapter 1 1
I slowly open my eyes, my head pounding like a drum. The world around me is a blur, but as my vision clears, I see him standing over me. His piercing blue eyes seem to bore into my soul, and I feel a shiver run down my spine. I try to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washes over me, forcing me back down. He reaches out a hand, his touch like ice, and helps me up. I'm met with the familiar sight of cold, grey walls and a musty smell that makes my stomach turn. I'm back in Raven's Peak, and I have no idea how I got here. The woman with the piercing green eyes is nowhere to be seen, but I know she's watching. I can feel her eyes on me, boring into my skin. He leads me to a small room, the walls lined with old books and a single, flickering candle. The air is thick with tension, and I can feel the weight of his gaze on me. "You've been asleep for a while," he says, his voice low and husky. "You've missed a lot." I try to speak, but my voice is hoarse, barely above a whisper. He hands me a glass of water, and I drink it greedily, feeling the cool liquid soothe my parched throat. As I look up at him, I see a glimmer of something in his eyes. Something that looks like regret, but it's quickly replaced by a cold, calculating gaze. "You remember me, don't you?" he asks, his voice dripping with malice. I nod, my heart racing. I remember him, all right. I remember the way he used to make me laugh, the way he used to hold my hand. But most of all, I remember the way he betrayed me. The way he left me to rot. "You promised me you'd never come back," I whisper, my voice shaking with anger. He smiles, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I lied," he says, his voice dripping with malice. "I've been waiting for you, and now that you're here, you're going to have to pay the price." I feel a surge of fear, but I'm determined to keep my cool. I'm not going to let him get the better of me. Not again. But as I look into his eyes, I see something that makes my blood run cold. A hint of recognition, a glimmer of familiarity. And then, it hits me: I'm not just trapped in Raven's Peak. I'm trapped with the one person who can destroy me. And as he raises his hand, his fingers brushing against my cheek, I feel my world crashing down around me. "You should have kept your promise," he whispers, his breath hot against my skin. Suddenly, the door bursts open, and the woman with the piercing green eyes stands in the doorway, a look of fury on her face. "You're not supposed to be alone with her," she spits, her eyes flashing with anger. He drops his hand, a smile spreading across his face. "I'm just getting started," he says, his voice dripping with malice. And as the woman's eyes lock onto mine, I see something that makes my heart skip a beat. A warning, a message that only I can see. "Run," she seems to be saying. "Run, while you still can." But it's too late. The door slams shut, and I'm plunged into darkness. And as I hear the sound of footsteps, echoing through the corridors, I realize I'm not alone. I'm being herded, driven towards some unknown fate. And as the footsteps get closer, I feel my heart racing with fear. I'm trapped, and I have no idea what's waiting for me. But I do know one thing: I have to escape. I have to get out of Raven's Peak before it's too late. And as I take a deep breath, preparing to make my move, I hear a voice behind me. "You'll never escape," it says. And as I spin around, I see a figure emerging from the shadows. A figure I never thought I'd see again. My sister. But something's wrong. Her eyes are black as coal, and her skin is deathly pale. And as she reaches out a hand, her fingers grasping for me like claws, I realize I'm in grave danger. "Welcome to your worst nightmare," she whispers, her voice dripping with malice. And as everything goes black, I know I'm doomed.
