-chapter 1 1
My mind is reeling as I stare into my mom's eyes, her face a mixture of warmth and sadness. But it's not just her I see, it's what's behind her that makes my heart sink. A figure, tall and imposing, with eyes that seem to bore into my soul. My mom's hand on my shoulder tightens, as if she's trying to hold me back. "Don't be afraid, son," she whispers, her voice trembling. But I am afraid, I'm terrified. The figure behind her takes a step forward, its presence filling the room. I can feel its eyes on me, like a weight pressing down on my chest. My mom's grip on my shoulder loosens, and she takes a step back, as if she's being pulled away from me. "No, please," I whisper, reaching out to her. But it's too late, she's gone, vanished into thin air. The figure looms over me, its eyes blazing with an otherworldly intensity. I try to scream, but my voice is caught in my throat. The figure raises its hand, and I feel a surge of energy coursing through my body. Everything goes white, and I'm consumed by a blinding light. When my vision returns, I'm standing in a room I don't recognize. The walls are lined with old computers and machinery, and the air is thick with the smell of dust and decay. I stumble forward, trying to make sense of my surroundings. But it's what I see on the wall that makes my blood run cold. A message, scrawled in red letters: "You have 72 hours to remember." Suddenly, the room is filled with the sound of ticking clocks, and I know I'm running out of time. I spin around, trying to find a way out, but the doors are sealed shut. I'm trapped. And then, I hear the voice, the same voice from before. "You're getting close, brother," it says. "But you're not close enough." The voice pauses, and I feel a chill run down my spine. "You see, the Midnight Promise is more than just a promise. It's a curse. And you're the key to unlocking it." The voice raises its tone, the words becoming a scream. "You have 72 hours to remember, brother. 72 hours to uncover the truth. Or else..." The voice trails off, leaving me with a sense of impending doom. And then, everything goes black. But just as I think it's all over, I hear a faint whisper in my ear. "Run."
