I'm trapped in a never-ending nightmare, with no escape from the darkness that haunts me. The midnight promise, two words that echo in my mind like a curse. I try to remember, to recall the events that led me to this place, but my memories are shrouded in a thick fog. The figure, my brother, stands before me, their eyes burning with an otherworldly intensity. I feel a chill run down my spine as they take another step closer, their hand reaching out to grasp mine. "Remember," they whisper, their breath cold against my skin. I try to pull away, but my body is frozen in place, unable to move, unable to escape. The room begins to spin, a vortex of colors and sounds that threaten to consume me. I feel myself being pulled back, dragged into the depths of my own mind. Memories begin to surface, fragmented and disjointed, like pieces of a puzzle that refuse to fit together. I see glimpses of a life I don't recognize, a life that's not my own. A child's laughter, a mother's tears, a father's anger. The images are fleeting, but they leave an indelible mark on my mind. I'm a stranger in my own skin, a stranger in my own life. And then, I see her. A girl with piercing green eyes, a girl who's been haunting my dreams. She's standing in a field of wildflowers, her hair blowing in the wind. She turns to me, and our eyes meet. I feel a jolt of electricity, a spark that ignites a fire within me. But before I can reach out to her, before I can touch her hand, the image vanishes. The room is silent once more, the only sound the beating of my heart. The figure stands before me, their eyes glinting with a malevolent light. "The midnight promise," they whisper, their voice dripping with malice. "It's time to pay." And with that, the world around me begins to dissolve, like sand between my fingers. I'm falling, plummeting into the abyss, with no safety net to catch me. The last thing I see is the girl's face, her eyes locked on mine, her mouth open in a silent scream. And then, everything goes black. But just as I think it's over, just as I think I've hit rock bottom, I hear a voice. A voice that's not my brother's, a voice that's not my own. "You're not who you think you are," it says. "You're not even human." My heart skips a beat, my mind reeling with the implications. What does it mean? What am I? The voice laughs, a cold, mirthless sound. "You'll find out soon enough," it says. "You'll find out when the clock strikes midnight." And with that, the darkness closes in around me, like a shroud. I'm trapped, with no escape, no respite. The midnight promise is coming, and I'm not ready. The clock is ticking, the seconds counting down. 11:59 PM. One minute to midnight. One minute to the truth. And then, just as the clock is about to strike, everything freezes. The world is silent, the only sound the beating of my heart. I'm suspended in time, waiting for the inevitable. Waiting for the clock to strike midnight. Waiting for my world to come crashing down. And then, just as the clock is about to strike...
