Seat Number 14-chapter 1

I stepped onto the bus, the dim fluorescent lights overhead casting an eerie glow on the deserted seats. The driver, a gruff, weathered man with a thick beard, eyed me in the rearview mirror as I made my way down the aisle. I chose a seat near the back, the soft hum of the engine and the gentle rock of the bus lulling me into a state of semi-awareness. The journey was supposed to take three hours, but I knew it would feel like an eternity. As I settled in, I noticed a girl sitting across from me, her face shrouded in shadows. She was dressed in a long, black coat that seemed to swallow her whole, and her eyes gleamed like two bright stars in the darkness. I felt a shiver run down my spine as our eyes met, and for a moment, time stood still. The bus rumbled on, the only sound the soft crunch of gravel beneath the tires. I tried to focus on the passing landscape, but my gaze kept drifting back to the mysterious girl. She seemed to be watching me, her eyes boring into my skin like ice picks. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, feeling a sense of unease creeping over me. Who was this girl, and what was she doing on this bus in the dead of night? The questions swirled in my mind like a maelstrom, drawing me in with an otherworldly force. And then, just as I thought I couldn't take it anymore, the girl leaned forward, her voice barely above a whisper. "We're not alone on this bus," she said, her eyes glinting with a knowing light. Suddenly, the bus hit a pothole, and the lights flickered. When they came back on, the girl was gone. But as I looked around, I realized that I was no longer alone... and the figure standing in the aisle was watching me with an unblinking stare.
